Thank You France!
Sunday January 29, 2012 the Armenian youth held a small thank-you event dedicated to France, after the French Senate adopted the bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide, according to which whoever denies the Armenian Genocide in Francewill face 1 year in jail and a fine of 45000 euro. Coincidentally also on January 29 but 11 years ago the French President at that time, Jacques Chirac, approved the bill trough which Franceofficially recognized the Armenian Genocide. At this small thank-you event, His Grace Bishop Datev Hagopian, His Excellency Ambassador Hamlet Gasparian and the UAR President Varujan Vosganian talked about the importance of this bill. They were joined by other community members who expressed their views on this subject. After the event, all the participants were asked to write a thank-you message for Franceon a wall covered with the flags of Franceand Armenia
